Peter Lenz
With an eclectic mindset Peter Lenz composes music on the threshold of musical systems. His music draws upon multiple styles and genres of music and is seeking to contradict paradigms and assumptions.
Austrian born Peter Lenz holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Jazz Performance (Drums) from the University of Arts in Graz/Austria, as well as a Master’s Degree from Codarts University Rotterdam/Netherlands. He also has a Master’s Degree from Manhattan School of Music/New York where he studied Jazz Performance (Drums) and Jazz Composition. Peter also was a member of the BMI New York Composers Workshop.
In 2012 his debut Album as a composer and bandleader was released on Unit Records Switzerland. Entitled ‘It is but it’s not’, it features his former Quintet called Peter Lenz’ Silent Flow.
LITHIUM – his current band – was formed in 2016. It features Chris SPEED on Saxophone and Clarinet, guitarist Keisuke MATSUNO and Stefan LIEVESTRO on bass.So far they have released two Albums ‘Lithium’ (2016) and ‘E’ (2020), both on Skirl Records.
The first Album of his New York based Large Ensemble entitled ‘BREATHE – Music for Large Ensembles’ will be released in 2024.
